General Information for Kythira
Totally isolated from the rest of the Heptanese - at the edge of the Peloponnese - the beautiful island of Kythira, formerly known as Chirigho, administratively belongs to Peiraeus. The island has its own individuality and although architecturally resembles more the Cyclades than the Ionian islands, nonetheless, it retains a distinct identity. Imposing rocky shores and hollow bays seem to support a mesa on top of which entire settlements, castles, monastries forests and caves are scattered.

The famous island of the Kytherian Aphrodite, offers you quiet vacations in the midst of warm hospitable people and the enjoyment to swim in the clear waters of three seas.

The town of Kythira, built under the Venetian Castle, has good thoroughfare, old mansions and a beautiful view towards the Cretan Sea and Antikythira. It will capture you with its simplicity and serenity. Enjoy outskirts like: Kapsali - the smaller port of the island - Mylopotamos; Potamos; Aghia Pelaghia, the main port of Kythira - which in recent years presents increased tourist activity; another resort area: Diakofti and the inlet Makrykythira. In the north shore of the island, visit the verdant settlement of Karavas, which offers a therapeutic spa. Seashores:

Platia Ammos; Aghia Pelaghia; Diakofti; Avlemonas among others and do not forget the two popular encompassed bays at Kapsali: Bros and Pisso Yialos.

Antikythira

In the midst of Crete and Kythira, the small rocky island of Antikythira is located. It has a very long history and the ruins of the ancient city are evident, near Potamos - the capital and port of the island. It is a primitive place and if you are weary of modern comforts, this is the place for you. It will offer you solitude and Spartan accomodations.

Where to eat?
The picturesque tavernas of the island: Myrtoon; Elessa and the Pharos (across the quay), will amply satisfy you with their tasty tidbits. The Ouzerie Moustakas serves all types of meals from seafood to roasted lamb on the spit(on Easter Sunday). Enjoy your breakfast along with the beautiful view, at Fossa's and your evening drink at: Laoumi; Mouraghio and Patitiri.
