General Information for Arcadia
Arcadia occupies most of the central Peloponnese. The picturesque nome with the endless forests, fantastic villages, high mountains, expansive plains, rivers (Alfeios being the largest), grassy meadows. All the above and a small piece of sea and lovely sandy beaches (like Tyro, Livathi and Sampatiki) complete the lovely picture of the region. Tripolis
Tripolis is approximately 103 miles from Athens and iô is the heart of the Peloponnese. Its high altitude and the fact that it is built in verdant surroundings give her a lovely presence. It also offers some impressive neo-classical buildings, a large park, Byzantine churches, nice shops for window-shopping and some findings of various excavations.
Although it is not a city to linger on too long, it does offer comfortable modern hotels, good restaurants and it is the hub of transport for the rest of Peloponnese.
Where to eat?
Too many to choose few. The two largest plateies (squares) Vas. Georgiou and Kolokotroni are crowded with restaurants, tavernas and cafes. Use good judgement in choosing one.
