General Information for Simi The island of endless bays, successive mountain range and countless chapels, offers serene restful vacations. Altough, there is no shortage of visitors and travellers, since many vessels come and go regularly through the port and continue to Pedhi and Panomitis, where the monastery of the Nobleman Michael is located.
Symi, the capital and harbor of the island consists of Ano Symi and Yialos and its houses are climbing up from the harbor to the cliff. At the entrance of the port, one could see the impressive clock-tower, this area is called Mouraghio. The entire slope - where the town hall is located - is called Mavrovouni and next to it there are: Harani; Kampos; Koulountri;Kali and the Pano Horio. All these districts are sprawled uniformly in a crooked level. The two-story houses follow the same architecture, conforming to the neiborhood standards.
